Fentanyl and Opioid Awareness Assembly – Opt-Out Form

Posted Date: 10/19/26 (10:21 AM)

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we kick off Red Ribbon Week, our school will be hosting a Fentanyl and Opioid Awareness and Prevention Assembly on Monday, October 26, 2026. The presentation will be provided by Texas A&M's Opioid Prevention for Students K–12 (TOPS) program. The assembly will last approximately 45 minutes and will focus on educating students about the dangers of fentanyl and opioids, promoting healthy choices, and encouraging students to make safe and informed decisions.

We understand that families may have different preferences regarding their child's participation in this presentation. If you would prefer that your child not attend the assembly, you may opt them out by completing the attached form or by contacting the school directly. Students who are opted out will be provided with an alternative supervised activity during the assembly.

Please note: If an opt-out form is not submitted and a parent or guardian has not contacted the school to request that their child be excused, the student will attend the assembly.

We appreciate your partnership as we work together to educate and empower our students to make healthy, safe choices. Thank you for your continued support as we recognize Red Ribbon Week!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Brown
SFJH Principal

Just a friendly reminder that if you would like to opt your child out of the Fentanyl and Opioid Awareness Assembly, please do so by Friday, October 23.

I have also attached a Parent and Guardian Information Sheet to the original post for anyone who would like additional information about the assembly.

Thank you!
